Rosemary and Peppermint Oil Hair Mask

Anyone else’s hair take the natural shape and texture of Edward Scissorhands after going through a wind tunnel? To top it off, winter is no friend of mine, especially when it comes to my hair and scalp. Long story short: I could use all the help I can get. Cue my obsession with hair masks– because what else am I going to do with my time if I’m not putting strange concoctions in my hair that the internet promises will make me pretty!?

What Made Me Choose a Rosemary and Peppermint Oil Hair Mask?

First and foremost: I already had both, so I didn’t have to spend money. Yup, there ya have it folks: my profound reason.

Since I already had an essential oil kit (don’t drink wine and amazon prime, kids), so I did some googling to see what oils were best for hair growth. I think the universe knew I needed some kind of intervention because, as it turns out, these two essential oils are exactly what I need (supposedly).

I have this slightly irrational fear that I am going bald. so my main goal is to grow more hair. Apparently rosemary oil has been proven in studies to be just as effective as the active ingredient in hair growth products, like Rogain. Peppermint oil basically helps “wake-up” the follicles and stimulates hair growth. Not to mention it feels soooo great if your scalp is irritated by the winter weather.

So for the next 6 months, I’m going to apply this hair mask 2-3 times a week and see if I turn into Repunzel, Jennifer Anniston, or Chrissy Teigen. Stay tuned:

  1. 5ish drops of rosemary oil
  2. 3ish drops of peppermint oil
  3. 1 tablespoon of coconut oil

Put that into a bowl, pop it in the microwave and you are good to go. Coconut oil acts as the carrier oil here to dilute the two more potent oils. You can use olive oil or another carrier oil, I just had coconut oil on hand.
