My issue with the classic vanity setup? It ends up being a landing zone for everything I didn’t have time to put away before I had to leave. Clothes I tried on but didn’t put back on the hanger? Pile it on the chair. No time to put back all the products I used because I sat on my bed in a towel for 18 years after I showered, and now have -15 minutes to make myself look like a human? Just leave it all on the desk, lookin’ like some kind of crime scene.

Sound familiar?

I made the change from the typical vanity setup (desk, chair, mirror, light) about  a year ago and I will never go back. If you have an issue keeping your vanity area clean, maybe it’s time to rearrange your space. My vanity/hair and makeup station is my all time favorite spot in my room. My favorite thing about this set up is how you are free to get up-close and personal without your desk stabbing you in your ribcage, and keeping you from making sure you got every last eyelash smothered in mascara. (Yes, I know they have magnifying mirrors but those are scarier and show you the every pore you never needed to see. #IgnoranceIsBliss)

The shelves make it so easy to organize the products and tools you use all within reach, and no drawers to close mean less work for me when I’m in a hurry.

A Few Tricks I Used To Organize:

TALL Shelves

Y’all should have SEEN me try and get these shelves into the car after I accidentally told an Ikea attendant that I didn’t need help. It was a SHOW for those who were lucky enough to observe my misery.

HUGE Vanity Mirror 

I got mine at Kirkland’s, and I am SO happy with it. It was hard to find a mirror with the dimensions I wanted.

Letter/File Organizer

This is such an incredible alternative to stacking all of your palettes on top of each other. This isn’t the exact one I have, but it’s pretty dang close.

Makeup Organizer

I love this one because you can separate the top and bottom part and put them on different shelves.

Earring Holder

Not the exact one I have, but if you’re anything like me it’s a great way to see all of the earrings before you wear them once and then lose them!

A Few Tricks I Would Use If I Didn’t Spend All of My Money on Food:

Vanity Lights

Okay, this is actually really on my list of things to get since I have zero lighting in my room. My biggest thing is that I can easily remove them when I want to use my full length mirror for it’s actual purpose of being a full length mirror.

A Necklace Display

Definitely a better idea than laying them all out on a plate that I’m pretty sure is supposed to hold serving spoons? Whatever.

A Rotating Product Display

I would love to organize my bottom shelf to look less cluttered but…I could spend that money on Chipotle or crab dip so…
